Fan Art : Forever and Ever (Spn x Narnia Crossover)
Fan Art : Forever & Ever (Spn x Narnia Crossover)

(Once on the site, click on the image to full view, the pic is pretty big)

What's the concept ?

I filled the following prompt for the sharp_teeth  community requested by twoskeletons   :

Post-S3. In the midst of his desperate quest to get his brother back, Sam stumbles into Narnia and meets Jadis, who has a history of liking ambitious and resentful young men. She tells Sam she can help him.

I just HAD to drew this. I love Supernatural but I am also a huge fan of The LOTR and Heroic Fantasy in general (not to mention I've had a thing for Twilda Swinton for years ♥) . Trying to mix the two universes was really interesting. It's the first prompt I decided to fill for sharp_teeth  but as this drawing really took time I only finished it this weekend.

An inspiration for the drawing style/colors ?

Yep two, actually :

1) Alan Lee. How cannot be inspired by Lee when your are drawing a Narnia art ? This gentleman is a freaking GENIUS!! I saw him draw a portrait of Legolas during a signing session and it was breathtaking. He did it in only two minutes as if he was drawing Snoopy!!

If you don't know Alan Lee, he is one of the most famous artist of the LOTR universe. Look at this portrait of Frodo from the LOTR, it's beautiful.

2) Mucha

Particularly when it came to draw the picture frame, I used basically the same flower pattern :

Tools of the trade ?

Traditional : pencils, charcoal, watercolors, China Ink
- Digital : Photoshop CS - Painter Essential 3

How long did it take you ?

I can't tell you for once. A lot of time, a little bit every night. I think that at the end, it took me one week or so.

No more fun with Manga Studio Petite-Madame ?

You're kidding right ?   I am working on a 4 page comics (yes I know, it was 2, then 3 and now it's 4 pages...) for a sharp_teeth  prompt requested by smilla02  :

If Sam could get close to Dean, closer, he knows that whatever is wrong with him would be fixed. After many attempts, he finally gets it righ.

Sounds wincesty ? Hum...You didn't see my comics. The brothers are going to be really close, don't worry...

AND THE RBB ?!!!

Believe it or not, I am working on it! (AT LAST!!)

I don't know how you do it so fast, and everything looks so amazing, and I am insanely jealous of your talent.

Beautiful!

I don't know how you do it so fast
I am not fast actually! As we say in France I have "the power of concentration of a gold fish" which means I am easily distracted. I draw but at the same time, I surf the Internet, I eat, I cook, I do 15521215 things and at the end, it takes more time than what I intended in the first place ^^;;

I am insanely jealous of your talent
Thanks a lot but it's not talent, it's practice (don't repeat it, just let's let people believe I am naturally talented...and that I look like Angelina Jolie, too...)

Thanks a lot for the great feedback about my work=)

I'm just gonna have to fall down at your feet in worship or something because you just blow me away each time with your work. Especially at a time when I have to get my final art pieces completed for my diploma, and my art muse has left me and taken off for Bermuda... I see these and I just WANT to work on stuff again

*hugs*
petite_madamepetite_madame on October 27th, 2010 03:31 pm (UTC)
I am not sure I did something special but if it gave you the inspiration to work and be creative once again, then, it's great no ? ♥
I know your works, I love your big size paintings of the boys. They are really impressive!
Good luck on your studies and your diploma and thanks a lot for the great comment about my work ♥

Thank YOU for this great prompt! I would never have thought about a Narnia/Spn crossover and bizarrely the two worlds go together quite well! You had just a great idea. Maybe you were waiting for a fic and you got a fan art. It's different but it's still your prompt ^^;;

I am just SO glad you actually loved the result! When I read your prompt I knew exactly where I was heading even if I didn't plan to draw such a BIG drawing (it's basically 50cm x 21cm ). That's why I told you "things are going out of hand" in one of my first messages ^^;;

OMG SHE HAS THE AMULET
It's post S3, so technically, while Dean is in Hell, Sam keeps the amulet so I just had to include it in the drawing ^^ And you know, I never loose and occasion to bring the amulet back now that the show made it vanished =(

Thanks again for the great comment about my work ♥

So much detail!!!
I am detail freak. For me there's never enough fractals, flowers, tree roots, hair locks etc, in a pencil drawing ^^ That's why I absolutely wanted to draw this Narnia art, it was a pretext to go for the Heroic Fantasy style all over again =) Back to my fan artist roots!

I love how she's holding Dean's amulet, wrapped around her finger!

Thanks a lot as always for the great comment. Glad you paid attention to all the little details hidden in the picture ^^

こんにちは。
woow, Mucha!! He is one of my favorite painters.
And Allen Lee, yeah I know his LOTR's work.

Oh and your work is just beautiful :)

Konnichiwa! Hisashiburi desu ne! ( I am sorry, the Japanese typing of my keyboard doesn't work anymore, I have to fix it but I can read! :/) I just love Mucha too, I found a lot of great books at the Kinokuniya about his works. Amazing ^^

Thanks a lot for the great comment about my work ♥

It's different from the whole "pumpkin" thing =)

You are AMAZING woman! I had no idea who Jadis was just looking at the name - it took the image to say, OH! THE ICE QUEEN! Or, the Witch? I can't remember - I haven't seen the movie in years. ;)

Anyway, brilliant work. How you manage to do all this PLUS RBB is a conundrum!
petite_madamepetite_madame on October 26th, 2010 12:03 pm (UTC)
Thanks a lot young man ♥
I think it's the White Witch, I am not even sure *shame*. I really loved the first Narnia and the 3rd one (Prince Caspian) so I just had to draw that piece! Apparently, Tilda Swinton is back for the new episode \o/
Glad you recognized her right away because I wasn't really sure about her face. It's the first time I actually drew her so...

How you manage to do all this PLUS RBB is a conundrum!
I don't sleep at night :/ I sleep two hours a night top. It's been going on for years now so instead of staying in bed with my eyes wide open, I draw fan arts. ^^;;;
don't call my nametransfixeddream on October 26th, 2010 12:14 pm (UTC)
Right! The White Witch! How could I forget that? :D

I've never read the books, or seen passed the first movie, but I loved The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe! Both the animated version (which I've seen about a hundred times as a kid) and the CGI/real version!

It was actually her hair that did it for me, before I even looked at the face. The witch's hair is so iconic to me, hehe.

I am jealous that you can only sleep a few hours yet remain productive! If I don't get like 10 hours I'm a droopy mess!
Satavaisa: cas-avangelsatavaisa on October 26th, 2010 11:36 am (UTC)
Stunning & beautiful ^^
I also love LOTR & Alan Lee, although i usually fall more for John Howe :P

Fantastic work, as always ;)
petite_madamepetite_madame on October 26th, 2010 11:56 am (UTC)
I met John Hove too! He's amazing and absolutely lovely (and as he speaks French ^^). I cannot say which one I prefer between Hove and Lee. They are both incredible. When I learned they were going to collaborate for the production design of the LOTR, I was literary jumping in front of the computer screen =)
Thanks a lot for the great comment about my art ^^

PS : I am a Dean!Girl but Misha is just gorgeous in your icon ♥
cindy: spn - serious!intense!sam (by ilelibertetsuki_no_bara on October 26th, 2010 02:29 pm (UTC)
there's some crazy detail in that pic, seriously. i love sam's face - he looks very determined and yeah, kind of angry. (i haven't seen either narnia movie and i read the books so long ago i don't remember who jadis is, but i really like tilda swinton.) i also love the skulls and the smoky/ghostly effects and how creepy they make the illustration look, especially since it's all pretty flowers and the really nice mucha-style frame at the top. it's unsettling in a really good way.

I am a detail freak so I was tempted to always add more : more flowers, more skulls, more fractals, etc...It's just my thing =)
The illustration HAD to be creepy : it was a sharp_teeth prompt so even if I was influenced by Mucha, no way to just go completely for the lovely "Art Nouveau" style.
Thanks a lot for the great comment and for paying attention to small details. (I am also happy that you found the illustration creepy ^^ )

I love the border and your choice of color. So right for the White Witch. All the detail in the curling hair is amazing. I love Alan Lee's work. You're in good company.

Alan Lee is just amazing (and has great sense of humor too ^^)

Thanks a lot for the great comment about my Narnia art and for paying attention to little details like the hair =)

Sorry about the delay in my answer :/

This is amazing! I am not an artist, and I must admit I very seldom check out the fanart section of the newsletter, but I was quite intrigued by the idea of a Narnia crossover. This is a really gorgeous work, so much detail - the hair! wow! - and well composed. (Now I want to read a story about these two... ;)

I am not sure but I think that the prompt hasn't been filled yet so if you know an author who is a Narnia and a Spn fan, just let her know because it's the kind of story I would like to read too ♥

Thanks a lot for stopping by even if you are not really into fan arts and for taking the time to leave such a great comment about my drawing ♥
DTdayadhvam_triad on October 28th, 2010 07:59 pm (UTC)
Oh my god, this is glorious. I love the chilly serenity in Jadis's face, the hair so lush and horrifying at the same time (the skulls! :D), Jadis holding the amulet while Sam looks so coldly determined. Even the darkened strokes under his eyes--the stress, the tiredness. *___*

Also, Mucha! \O/

Thanks a lot for the great comment about by Spn/Narnia art ♥
I am a detail freak, that's why you have so many flowers, skulls, fractals, etc..
Glad you paid attention to the characters' faces, I was afraid they were a little bit lost in the middle of that "jungle"

I just LOVE Musha so for once, I included his style in my art, that's not something I can do very often with "Supernatural" :/
maichan: audrey kawasaki artmaichan on November 1st, 2010 05:48 pm (UTC)
I am a total sucker for Alan Lee and Mucha, so I basically giggled like a madwoman when I saw this. The combination of the ornate borders with the sketchy line art works surprisingly well together. THE 'VERSE MIXING IS BLOWING MY MIND RIGHT NOW.

I especially love Jadis' coy and somewhat devious expression. And did I mention the hair? SO MUCH LOVE <333

Her hair drove me nuts -____- It was a little bit complicated to blend it with the fractals, flowers and skulls but as I wanted a continuity in the picture, I guess I didn't have the choice ^^;;

Thanks a lot for the great feedback and for taking the time once again to leave so many comments on my LJ ♥

You are perfectly right, I wanted the drawing to be really organic like a jungle going wild or having a life on its own :)

My god, the details on this one!
I was fed up at the end. It's typically the kind of drawing that makes me say "What the hell are you doing?! Why SO many details, p_m ?!!! " I started on a A4 sheet but as it was too small I glued a second A4 sheet and the drawing kept on expending until I finally drew the border XD But the prompt was good! A Spn and Narnia crossover is actually a very good idea! :D I would never have thought about it!!

Because my art master post hasn't been updated in months ? XD
IDK, a lot of people didn't have email notifications lately but at least, I appear in their Flist when I post something.

Thanks a lot for the great comment naatz!
Glad you enjoyed the art ♥

I was trying to go back over all your art (because I know I've missed stuff) and a lot of your links no longer work which makes me very sad... But I thought I'd butt in here to say - I LOVE ALAN LEE! I've loved his work for many many years - fabulous drawings! He's in my top illustrators - along with Charles Keeping, Brian Froud and Victor Ambrus
